Black Friday Shopping 2013

Well I did it. I was one of those crazy people out in the bitter cold trying to get some terrific deals!!

I started my night at Walmart, and ended at Staples.  I scored some terrific things, but not as much as I would have liked.  I am the kind of person who tries to get all her shopping done as early as possible.

At Walmart, I scored one of their 32" TV's for $98.  I also got the Blu Ray Player for $38.  For the most part, shopping there went smoothly.  It took awhile to get into the store, but they honored their one hour guarantee which I was worried about.

By the time I made it to Target (my next stop) the store was dead.  There was no one in it (by Black Friday standards.)  I felt very bad for Target, and I hope they did ok with their sales.  I was able to score some jeans for my boys at $6 a pair, and a couple of $5 board games.  There was not much in their flyer that I wanted.

J C Penny had boys winter coats on sale for $18, so I got both boys a new one, and I got my snow globe!!

Radio Shack was my must go to store this year.  I was able to score a $99 iPhone for my Husband.  It is an iPhone 4, but that is what I have and I see no reason to spend $700 for an iPhone 5!!

Staples had iPhone cases, and iPad cases on sale for 25%-50% off, and they also had batteries at 50% off.

After that I called it quits to come home for family time and rest!!

Tomorrow I will hit some more stores.  Not sure which ones yet.

Did you go out this year?? How did you do with your shopping??

DreamWorks Pictures’ “Need for Speed” marks an exciting return to the great car culture films of the 1960s and ’70s, when the authenticity of the world brought a new level of intensity to the action on-screen. Tapping into what makes the American myth of the open road so appealing, the story chronicles a near-impossible cross-country journey for our heroes  one that begins as a mission for revenge, but proves to be one of redemption. Based on the most successful racing video game franchise ever with over 140 million copies sold, "Need for Speed" captures the freedom and excitement of the game in a real-world setting, while bringing to life the passion for the road that has made our love of cars so timeless.

The film centers around Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul), a blue-collar mechanic who races muscle cars on the side in an unsanctioned street-racing circuit. Struggling to keep his family-owned garage afloat, he reluctantly partners with the wealthy and arrogant ex-NASCAR driver Dino Brewster (Dominic Cooper). But just as a major sale to car broker Julia Bonet (Imogen Poots) looks like it will save Tobey's shop, a disastrous race allows Dino to frame Tobey for a crime he didn’t commit, and sending Tobey to prison while Dino expands his business out west.

Two years later, Tobey is released and set on revenge  but he knows his only chance to take down his rival Dino is to defeat him in the high-stakes race known as De Leon — the Super Bowl of underground racing. However to get there in time, Tobey will have to run a high-octane, action-packed gauntlet that includes dodging pursuing cops coast-to-coast as well as contending with a dangerous bounty Dino has put out on his car. With the help of his loyal crew and the surprisingly resourceful Julia, Tobey defies odds at every turn and proves that even in the flashy world of exotic supercars, the underdog can still finish first.

Staples Launches Online Ink and Toner Recycling

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Staples Inc. (NASDAQ: SPLS), the world’s largest office supply company and second largest internet retailer announced today the launch of an online ink and toner recycling program. The online program is an expansion of the existing, in store Staples Rewards ink and toner recycling program.

The online program enables Staples Rewards members to recycle empty ink and toner cartridges by printing a pre-paid shipping label to send their cartridges in for recycling and receive $2 back in Staples Rewards® for each one. The launch of the online ink and toner recycling program is a result of the retailer’s commitment to making a positive impact on the environment while also meeting the needs of their customers.

“This is a huge win for Staples as we make it easy for Staples Rewards members to choose how they want to recycle their ink and toner cartridges,” said Mark Buckley, VP of Environment. “Whether they choose to recycle in-store or, now, online, they have one more opportunity to save on future purchases while reducing waste.”

Earlier this year, Staples announced that it has recycled 350 million ink and toner cartridges since 2005, averaging over 60 million cartridges per year in the past three years. Through the cartridge recycling program, Staples has recycled 182 million pounds of plastics and metals, roughly the equivalent weight of an aircraft carrier or 400 times the Statue of Liberty.

Staples’ in-store electronics recycling program has a goal of recycling 40 million pounds of e-waste globally each year by 2020. Since 2007, Staples has recycled 64 million pounds of electronic waste.

For the convenience and transparency of their program, collection volumes and commitment to using certified and responsible recyclers, Staples received the highest grade in the Electronics Takeback Coalition’s Retail Recycling Report Card.

Staples is also the only national retailer who is an e-Stewards Enterprise, meaning that they have committed to using e-Stewards certified recyclers for all of their electronic waste.
